Retired Charm Beads

Every so often companies that produce charm jewelery will retire certain items from their collections. For example, there is quite a large collection of retired Pandora charms now, many of which cannot be found anywhere, even by searching for them online.

It is hard to know if there is any rhyme or reason to the decisions made on which charm to retire. Presumably beads that were not great sale items would be the ones to go, but it does not seem that this is always the case as some very popular charms have been retired.  What this does accomplish, however, is to push the price of the remaining “retired beads” way up higher than what the bead originally cost after some time. There is also quite a brisk trade of retired beads as well.

If you were to think ahead, a great plan for making money from different charm jewelry would be to keep a close eye on what beads are being retired and then buying a few up before they are no longer available and while costs are still cheap. It is possible to do this, as there are usually still quite a few stores stocking retired beads for the regular price even after their retirement has been announced.  If you were to hold onto them for a few years, there is a very good chance that they would become collector’s items and they would then be worth much more than their original price.

So, if you have any retired charms you really should hold onto them for now even if you do not plan on wearing them on your Pandora bead bracelet, as they may be worth quite a bit of money in ten or twenty years time.

You can find a listing of retired Pandora charms on most websites of jewelers or dealers who sell Pandora charms online.
