Everyone knows that economic recessions are a very good time to invest. A financial crisis is a time of change, and for people who can predict the outcome of those changes correctly, there is a lot of money to be made. In particular, the prices of commodities move around quite a lot, and anyone who is in the right place at the right time can take advantage of these fluctuations in commodity prices.
Look at gold, for example – the prices of gold have been hitting the ceiling for the last few years, and have broken records not just once or twice, but several times in the last eight months. The upshot of all this is that anyone who invested in gold at the beginning of the recession, back in 2007, would now be sitting on assets worth much more than they first cost.
However, it is important to realize when a window of opportunity has run out. A lot of experts are still trumpeting gold as a fantastic “undiscovered opportunity” that people should take advantage of, but we are not so sure. In our opinion, gold prices have already risen as far as they are going to rise. It may have been a bargain a few years ago, but it probably is not one any longer.
Enter silver. We think that silver is a much better opportunity to invest in. Silver has also been rising a lot over the last few years, an experienced price spikes similar to gold, but we believe it will be able to climb much more than gold because silver started out from a lower initial price point. In other words, it has more room to grow. The price of sterling silver flatware, which is always a good indicator of future movements, has gone up. If you are shy about investing in the metal directly, consider purchasing something like a vintage silver tray – we can almost guarantee that you will be able to sell it for more in a few months.
