At Best Small Coffee Maker, we are often asked to give our opinion on the best small coffee makers on the market. Some people simply want the best when it comes to their coffee, and we’ve always been right there to help the consumer make the right decision. Although the term “best” is relative, there are certainly some coffee makers that rise above the rest in terms of build quality, reliability and their ability to brew at the correct temperature range. For us, nothing quite matches the performance and consistency of a Technivorm coffee machine, which is our perennial favorite in the world of coffee makers.
The Technivorm Company is based in the Netherlands and has been producing fine coffee makers since 1962. In fact, Technivorm is one of only two brands certified by the Specialty Coffee Association of America, an organization with a mission to “ensure the extraordinary potential of coffee is discovered, revealed and delivered.” The reason these machines receive such praise from coffee fanatics is that they actually brew within a specified temperature range between 195 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit. This range has been identified as the perfect temperature for extracting the full flavor from ground coffee. Temperatures that fall outside of this range will produce a less desirable cup, at least theoretically.
The most popular machine in the Technivorm lineup is the Moccamaster CDT, which retails for $265.00 through Amazon and other specialty online retailers. While it may seem like a lot to spend on a coffee maker, this machine truly is a work of art. The Moccamaster is solidly built without any cheap plastic feel or cluttered button layouts. In fact, the only switch contained on the machine is a simple on/off toggle selector. The machine comes with a thermal carafe, which is a great option for keeping your coffee hot without subjecting it to scorching via the heat plate.
For coffee aficionados the Technivorm Moccamaster is the holy grail of small coffee pots. While the price is high, the craftsmanship provided means that this machine may last you for a lifetime if properly cared for. Check it out if you’re interested in buying your last coffee maker.
