Quite simply put The Office is one of the funniest laugh-out-loud comedies on TV today and it’s all thanks to the masterminds Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant.
I’ve always enjoyed Ricky’s work in The Office UK, his very awkward sense of humour made for some ‘Oh my God! Why didn’t he just keep his mouth shut!’ moments while watching on TV. On the other hand the US ‘The Office: An American Workplace’ has been cleverly changed to suit it’s new audience with much more typical one liners and practical jokes. Working in an office the year myself, I can definitely pick out some of the cast and relate them back to some real people at work.
The Office Season 4 – Part 1 only came out on DVD a little over a month ago in Australia and I had been resisting buying it until the second part came out. Then one Friday night terror struck at the video store as my credit card left my wallet and dove for the eftpos machine.
The season kicks off where season 3 ended. That is when Jim had finally asked Pam on a date and Ryan had somehow managed to score Jan’s old job at corporate. The usual antics ensue with Jan now living at Michael’s house and new and old romances inside the office.
Some great highlights to look forward to are the Schrute Farm, the fun run for Rabies and the KIDnapping. The only downside is that Jim lays off playing jokes on Dwight for a little while which is my favourite parts of the show.
Can’t wait for Part 2 which is due to be released in Australia December 2nd 2009!
